What your child will discover
Help the child understand the basic sequence for putting on simple clothing. Teach the child to find the main openings, place the correct body part through each opening, pull the garment gently into place, and ask for help when clothing becomes twisted, stuck, uncomfortable, or confusing.

The spoken lesson
"Getting dressed takes practice. First, sit somewhere safe and look at the clothing. Find the front, back, top, and openings. For a shirt, the head goes through the large opening and the hands go through the sleeves. For trousers, one foot goes into each leg opening before the clothing is pulled up. To put on a sock, toes go in first and the sock moves over the heel. Clothing should feel comfortable, not tight or painful. If something twists, catches, or feels wrong, stop and say, 'Help, please.' Find the opening, move gently, and ask for help." DESIGN REQUIREMENTS: Use large step cards, slow demonstrations, realistic garments, and a visible pause button. Do not use dressing races, timers, scores, fashion judgments, body comparison, or negative feedback.

Make it real
Pause, point, name what you notice, and connect the idea to something familiar in your child's day. Repetition, a calm voice, shared attention and dependable care matter more than finishing quickly.
