"Writing records and communicates language or ideas. A writer begins with a purpose, such as telling a story, explaining, labelling, remembering, or asking. The writer may plan by talking, drawing, arranging pictures, or making a list. The message can be handwritten, typed, dictated, written in Braille, or created with accessible technology. Writers reread to check meaning. They revise by adding, removing, or reordering ideas and edit details when appropriate. Early writing does not need perfect spelling or letter formation to communicate. Writers plan, create a message, reread it, and improve it." DESIGN REQUIREMENTS: Support multiple scripts and access methods. Avoid handwriting perfection, forced grip, hand dominance correction, spelling shame, saving user content, or treating typing as less real than handwriting.
Pause, point, name what you notice, and connect the idea to something familiar in your child's day. Repetition, a calm voice, shared attention and dependable care matter more than finishing quickly.
