"Continents are very large geographic land regions. One common school model names Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Europe, North America, South America, and Australia. Other traditions combine some of these regions and use five or six continents. Oceania is a broader region that includes Australia and many Pacific islands. The Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Southern, and Arctic are commonly named ocean basins. They are not separate containers. They are connected parts of one global ocean. A continent is not a country, and a continent does not represent one race or culture. Large land regions are called continents, and the named ocean basins form one connected ocean." DESIGN REQUIREMENTS: Use physical geography, equal visual dignity, and selectable continent models. Avoid continent stereotypes, political ranking, misleading flat-map proportions, or one model presented as culturally superior.
