"Microbes are extremely small organisms and infectious agents found in bodies, food, soil, water, air, and many other places. Bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa are different groups. Many microbes are harmless. Some help digestion, make foods, or recycle nutrients in nature. A pathogen is a microbe or infectious agent that can cause disease. Different pathogens spread in different ways, including through air, hands, surfaces, food, water, animals, or body fluids. Handwashing, food safety, respiratory hygiene, vaccination, and suitable cleaning can reduce spread. Many microbes are helpful or harmless; some pathogens can make us sick." DESIGN REQUIREMENTS: Use scientific shapes and explanations, not cartoon villains. Avoid fear, disgust, obsessive cleaning, diagnostic claims, or magnified microbes shown as visible on every ordinary object.
