The spoken lesson

"This is your head. Your head contains and protects your brain. Your face, eyes, ears, nose, and mouth are part of the head area. Hair grows from the skin on the head, called the scalp. Hair may be straight, wavy, curly, coiled, thick, fine, long, short, or absent. Every kind is normal. A caregiver washes and cares for hair gently. A brush, comb, fingers, or another suitable method may be used. Hair should not be pulled. The head is important and needs protection and gentle care." DESIGN REQUIREMENTS: Use diverse natural hair and avoid beauty rankings, racial stereotypes, hair-product promotion, or "good hair" language. Use fully clothed, respectful images.

Make it real

Pause, point, name what you notice, and connect the idea to something familiar in your child's day. Repetition, a calm voice, shared attention and dependable care matter more than finishing quickly.
