"Numbers do many jobs. A number can tell how many objects are in a group. It can tell order, such as first, second, or third. Numbers measure length, weight, temperature, time, and distance. A number may show a price or an age. Numbers can also be labels. Bus number seven is called seven, but it does not mean there are seven buses. Some numbers, such as addresses, phone numbers, and access codes, are personal and need protection. Numbers can count, order, measure, label, and organise many parts of daily life." DESIGN REQUIREMENTS: Use one clear practical use per card. Avoid number drills, timed recitation, scores, advertising prices, gambling imagery, or personal-data forms.
