What your child will discover
Help the child distinguish between a road, sidewalk, curb, driveway, parking area, and pedestrian path. Teach that moving vehicles belong on roads while people usually walk on sidewalks, protected paths, or other pedestrian areas.

The spoken lesson
"A road is a place where cars, buses, bicycles, motorcycles, and other vehicles may move. A sidewalk or protected path is a place for people walking. The curb or road edge separates the path from traffic. Vehicles may also cross the sidewalk at driveways, so we stop and look with a caregiver. Parking areas need special care because vehicles may move forward or backward. A small child always stays close to a caregiver near roads and vehicles. People on the path. Vehicles on the road. Caregiver close." DESIGN REQUIREMENTS: Use realistic road layouts from several countries without privileging one traffic direction. Do not rely on left-versus-right driving rules. Use text, icons, and narration together. Support reduced motion and provide a master mute control.

Make it real
Pause, point, name what you notice, and connect the idea to something familiar in your child's day. Repetition, a calm voice, shared attention and dependable care matter more than finishing quickly.
