"Your hands have palms, thumbs, and fingers. Hands and fingers help you do many things. You can touch a safe surface, hold a large object, point to something, and let an object go. You can stack large blocks, help hold a spoon, make marks with a child-safe crayon, and wave hello or goodbye. Hands also help with simple jobs, such as placing a cloth in a basket. Small, sharp, hot, electrical, and dangerous objects stay away. We use gentle hands with people, animals, books, plants, and breakable things."
