"Water wets the hands and can rinse away some loose dirt. Soap helps loosen oils, dirt, and many tiny microbes that may cling to the skin. Rubbing spreads the soap across the palms, backs, fingers, thumbs, fingertips, and around the nails. Then clean running water carries the loosened material away. Bubbles can be fun to see, but many bubbles do not always mean better cleaning. Soap is not food, and soapy water is not for drinking. Soap loosens. Rubbing spreads. Water rinses away."
