What your child will discover

The spoken lesson

"Bones grow inside the body and help support movement. Calcium is one nutrient used to build bones and teeth. Calcium can come from foods such as yogurt, cheese, suitable milk, calcium-set tofu, beans, leafy vegetables, fortified foods, and other local choices. Vitamin D helps the body use calcium. Protein, varied food, sleep, and safe movement also support growth. No single food builds the whole body by itself. Families may use different foods according to health, culture, and belief. Varied food and healthy movement help bones grow." DESIGN REQUIREMENTS: Use simple, non-medical bone graphics and diverse foods. Do not promote dairy as the only source, diagnose deficiency, advertise supplements, or show frightening weak-bone imagery.

Make it real

Pause, point, name what you notice, and connect the idea to something familiar in your child's day. Repetition, a calm voice, shared attention and dependable care matter more than finishing quickly.
