Criteria describe what the design should achieve. Constraints include safety, materials, time, cost, space, accessibility, and environmental effects. A prototype helps people learn before making a final product. Testing may reveal weaknesses, and those results guide improvement. Different designs involve trade-offs, and no solution is perfect for every person or situation. Engineering defines a need, designs within limits, tests with evidence, and improves responsibly." DESIGN REQUIREMENTS: Use iterative design, user consultation, and diverse engineering fields. Avoid lone-genius stereotypes, dangerous tools, one perfect answer, failure shame, or inaccessible design treated as acceptable.
