"Pollution occurs when substances, organisms, particles, or energy enter or build up in an environment at harmful levels. Pollution can affect air, water, soil, food webs, bodies, sound environments, night skies, and temperature. A pollutant has a source, is released, moves through the environment, reaches people or other organisms, and may cause an effect. Harm depends on the substance, dose, route, duration, and exposed organism. Pollution can move between air, land, water, and food. Children never touch unknown waste or contaminated material. Prevent pollution at the source, protect people and ecosystems, and leave hazardous cleanup to trained adults." DESIGN REQUIREMENTS: Show pollution pathways and prevention rather than only dirty landscapes. Avoid graphic animal suffering, child cleanup, guilt-based messaging, or suggesting all pollution is visible.
