Help the child understand that science is a collaborative way of building and improving knowledge about the natural and material world. Scientists ask questions, observe, measure, test ideas, use models, analyse evidence, communicate results, and revise explanations when better evidence appears.
"Science is a way of investigating the natural and material world. Scientists wonder, ask questions, observe, measure, predict, test ideas, record results, compare evidence, and explain what they found. They use models to represent things that may be too large, small, distant, complex, or slow to observe directly. One test does not answer every question, and measurements have limits. Scientists share their methods so others can examine, repeat, challenge, and improve the explanation. Saying, 'We do not know yet,' is honest science. Science asks, observes, tests, explains, shares, and improves." DESIGN REQUIREMENTS: Use diverse scientists, real observations, safe materials, and non-linear science-practice navigation. Avoid laboratory stereotypes, exploding experiments, competitive scores, fake certainty, or science presented as memorising authority statements.
Pause, point, name what you notice, and connect the idea to something familiar in your child's day. Repetition, a calm voice, shared attention and dependable care matter more than finishing quickly.
