"Soil is a mixture of minerals, organic matter, air, water, and living organisms. Mineral particles include sand, silt, clay, and small pieces of rock. Organic matter comes from once-living material as it breaks down. Earthworms, fungi, bacteria, insects, and many other organisms may live in soil. Soil holds plant roots, stores water, cycles nutrients, and creates habitats. Different soils have different colours and textures. Use only clean soil chosen by a caregiver. Do not taste soil or breathe its dust. Wash your hands after touching it. Soil holds water, air, minerals, organic matter, and life." DESIGN REQUIREMENTS: Use scientifically accurate soil layers and living organisms without making the soil appear dirty or disgusting. Avoid tasting, throwing soil, dust clouds, or unsupervised digging.
