"Earth spins around an imaginary axis. This spinning is called rotation. Earth makes one complete rotation in about twenty-four hours. The side facing the Sun has daylight. The side facing away has night. As your part of Earth turns toward the Sun, morning begins. As Earth keeps turning, the Sun appears to move across the sky. Later, your location turns away from the Sun and evening becomes night. Another part of Earth is then facing the Sun. The Sun is not circling Earth each day. Earth turns into light and turns into darkness." DESIGN REQUIREMENTS: Use accurate Earth rotation and a stationary Sun in the model. Avoid sunrise-as-Sun-orbit imagery, flat diagrams, flashing transitions, or overly rapid spinning.
