Why Do People Work?

"Work is purposeful effort used to produce goods, provide services, care for people, maintain systems, create, discover, solve problems, or earn income. Some work is paid. Other important work, such as childcare, household care, study, and volunteering, may be unpaid. People work in many different ways and may change occupations during life. Workers need safety, fair treatment, rest, and respect. A person's job or income does not determine human worth. Children may practise small safe responsibilities, but adults remain responsible for family income and dangerous work. Work helps produce, care, create, maintain, solve, and support life." DESIGN REQUIREMENTS: Represent paid and unpaid work equally. Avoid prestige rankings, gender stereotypes, child labour, overwork praise, salary comparisons, or career-selection pressure.
