What your child will discover
Help the child understand that toys have usual storage places and that returning them after play makes them easier to find, protects them from damage, creates a safer walking area, and prepares the space for the next activity.

The spoken lesson
"Toys have usual places where they wait until the next play time. Blocks may go into a basket. Books return to a low shelf. Balls stay where they cannot roll under people's feet. Putting toys away makes them easier to find and less likely to become lost or broken. It also clears the floor for safe walking. Caregiver, choose only a few toys and put away one at a time. Play creates temporary mess, and that is normal. We do not need perfect order. Play, finish, put away, and find it again." ORIGINAL TIDY-UP CHANT: "One toy, two toys, find their place. Clear a path and share the space. Books on shelves and blocks away, Ready for another day." DESIGN REQUIREMENTS: Use calm transitions and realistic lived-in rooms. Avoid perfection, timers, star rewards, competitive cleanup, shame, or magical instant-cleaning effects.

Make it real
Pause, point, name what you notice, and connect the idea to something familiar in your child's day. Repetition, a calm voice, shared attention and dependable care matter more than finishing quickly.
