The spoken lesson

"Cleaning removes dirt, food, dust, and many germs from the places people use. It can also clear objects that may cause someone to trip and remove food that may attract pests. A toddler may help wipe a safe low table with water, carry a light cloth, or put away large toys. Toilets, body fluids, mould, broken glass, chemicals, and strong cleaners belong to adults. Cleaning products remain locked away and are never mixed. A home does not need to look perfect. Clean what needs cleaning, use safe tools, and share the work." DESIGN REQUIREMENTS: Use realistic routine cleaning rather than dramatic transformations. Avoid perfection, hygiene scoring, chemical-product promotion, shame, or germ fear.

Make it real

Pause, point, name what you notice, and connect the idea to something familiar in your child's day. Repetition, a calm voice, shared attention and dependable care matter more than finishing quickly.
