Help the child understand that bodies benefit from varied foods across several food groups. Teach frequency, variety, balance, and body signals without labelling children or foods as morally good or bad.
"Bodies need different nutrients, so everyday eating includes variety. Fruits and vegetables provide many vitamins, minerals, fibres, and plant compounds. Grain and starchy foods provide energy. Protein foods help growth and repair. Dairy foods or suitable alternatives can provide important nutrients. Water is an important everyday drink. No single food does every job, and no plate must be perfect. Some sweet, salty, or highly processed foods may be eaten less often or in smaller amounts. Caregivers offer suitable foods, and children listen for hunger and fullness. Choose variety, listen to the body, and enjoy food without pressure." DESIGN REQUIREMENTS: Use real foods from varied cultures and ordinary budgets. Avoid moral food labels, diet culture, calorie counts, body-size imagery, commercial products, food rewards, or perfection scoring.
Pause, point, name what you notice, and connect the idea to something familiar in your child's day. Repetition, a calm voice, shared attention and dependable care matter more than finishing quickly.
