Understand that a home is a place where people live, sleep, eat, care for one another, and keep belongings.
Help the child understand that a home is a place where people live and receive care. Homes may be houses, apartments, shared homes, temporary homes, mobile homes, or other safe living spaces. Do not connect the idea of home with wealth, property ownership, size, or one architectural style.

Some families share a home with relatives or other people. A home may be large or small. It may have many rooms or one shared space. A home is not important because of its size or price. It is important because daily life and care happen there. Caregiver, point to the places where the child sleeps, eats, washes, and keeps familiar things." DESIGN REQUIREMENTS: Use ordinary, believable living spaces rather than luxury interiors. Avoid ranking homes or presenting one housing type as superior. Use large images, minimal writing, gentle transitions, and accessible labels.
Pause, point, name what you notice, and connect the idea to something familiar in your child's day. Repetition, a calm voice, shared attention and dependable care matter more than finishing quickly.
