Environmental sustainability considers climate, biodiversity, water, soil, air, materials, and waste. Social sustainability includes health, rights, education, equality, culture, safety, and decent work. Economic sustainability includes livelihoods, infrastructure, affordability, and long-term viability. We examine a product's complete lifecycle, including materials, work, transport, use, repair, reuse, recycling, and disposal. Solutions involve trade-offs, so one green label does not answer every question. Sustainability connects present wellbeing, future needs, ecological limits, fairness, and responsible systems." DESIGN REQUIREMENTS: Use connected systems, lifecycle thinking, and social equity. Avoid personal guilt, simplistic recycling messages, unverified green claims, product advertising, or treating low-income choices as moral failure.
