"The universe includes all known spacetime, matter, energy, radiation, fields, galaxies, and physical systems. The Big Bang model says the early universe was extremely hot and dense and that space has expanded and cooled. It was not a bomb exploding from one centre into empty space. As the universe cooled, particles, nuclei, atoms, stars, and galaxies formed. Ancient light called the cosmic microwave background still reaches us from an early period. Galaxy redshifts, this background radiation, light-element abundances, and large-scale structure support the expanding-universe model. Scientists infer dark matter from gravity and use the name dark energy for the unknown cause associated with accelerated expansion. The universe has expanded and changed for billions of years, and many fundamental questions remain open." DESIGN REQUIREMENTS: Use expansion throughout space, not one central explosion. Clearly label analogies and unknowns. Avoid false certainty, religious dismissal, literal dark-coloured dark matter, or claiming an outside space into which the universe expands.
