What your child will discover

Help the baby notice the feet and toes and discover that feet can wiggle, push, kick gently, feel surfaces, and eventually support standing, balance, and walking.

The spoken lesson

"Where are your feet? Your feet are at the ends of your legs. Look at your toes. Toes can wiggle. Feet can move, stretch, and push gently. Babies may kick their feet while lying safely. Later, when their bodies are ready, feet help with standing, balancing, and walking. Every baby develops in their own time. Caregiver, touch one foot gently and say, 'Here is your foot.' Now wiggle the toes. Feet and toes help your body move and explore." DESIGN REQUIREMENTS: Do not use walking milestones as scores. Do not display comparisons between babies. Use slow animation and a clear adult-supervision note.

Make it real

Pause, point, name what you notice, and connect the idea to something familiar in your child's day. Repetition, a calm voice, shared attention and dependable care matter more than finishing quickly.
