"Look at the toy. Here it is. Now the caregiver hides it under the cloth. Where did it go? The toy is hidden, but it is still there. Lift the cloth. There it is. A person can hide a face behind their own hands. The face is still there too. Caregiver, begin by hiding only part of a familiar toy. Reveal it quickly. Later, hide it for one short moment. Hidden does not mean gone forever. The object still exists even when our eyes cannot see it." DESIGN REQUIREMENTS: Use slow transitions and short hiding periods. Avoid suspense music, darkness, disappearance effects, or prolonged caregiver absence.
